What is Bonus shares?

Free additional shares given to existing shareholders in proportion to their holding.

In a 1:1 bonus, you get one extra share for each share you hold, and the share price adjusts down to roughly half. Your total value does not change. Bonus issues convert part of the company’s reserves into share capital.
