What is Exchange-traded fund (ETF)?

A fund that tracks an index or asset like gold and trades on the stock exchange like a share.

You buy and sell ETF units through a broker during market hours at the market price, which needs a demat account. ETFs usually have very low costs, but check that the ETF trades in enough volume so that you can buy and sell near its fair value.
