What is Market capitalisation?

The total market value of a company's shares: share price multiplied by the number of shares.

SEBI groups listed companies by market cap for mutual fund purposes: the top 100 are large caps, the next 150 (101 to 250) mid caps, and the rest small caps. Large caps are usually more stable; small caps can grow faster but swing much more.
