What is Initial public offering (IPO)?

The first sale of a company's shares to the public, after which the shares are listed on a stock exchange.

Investors apply through their bank (ASBA) or a UPI mandate during the subscription period, usually three working days. If the issue is oversubscribed, shares are allotted by lottery in the retail category. Shares now list three working days after the issue closes. Read the offer document’s risk factors and financials, not just the hype.
