What happened
Indian Gas Exchange Ltd (IGX) has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to launch an initial public offering (IPO), according to a 12 October 2026 Economic Times report.
The issue will be entirely an offer for sale. That means existing shareholders sell some of their shares to new investors. In this case the seller is the promoter, Indian Energy Exchange Ltd.
The sources do not give the issue size, price band, number of shares or opening date.
What it means for you
Because the IPO is purely an offer for sale, the money raised goes to the selling shareholder, not to IGX itself. The company does not receive fresh capital from the issue.
IGX says it wants the listing to improve its visibility and strengthen its brand image. If you are considering applying once dates are announced, wait for the offer document, which will carry the financials, risks and terms.
Background
IGX has been operating since June 2020 and has reported rising revenue in recent years. Sebi approval is a regulatory step that lets a company proceed with its public offer. It is not a view on the company’s value or on how the shares might perform after listing.
