Finance glossary

What is Net asset value (NAV)?

The price of one unit of a mutual fund, worked out from the value of its holdings at the end of each business day.

NAV equals the fund’s total assets minus liabilities, divided by the number of units. A low NAV does not make a fund “cheap” and a high NAV does not make it expensive. What matters is how the underlying investments perform.
