What is Systematic investment plan (SIP)?

A way of investing a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals, usually every month.

SIPs build the habit of investing and average out your purchase cost: you buy more units when prices are low and fewer when they are high. Many investors increase their SIP each year with a step-up. Use XIRR, not simple returns, to measure SIP performance.
