What happened
Gold jewellery prices fell in India on 14 October 2026. Tanishq’s 22k gold rate dropped to ₹13,635 per gram from ₹13,730 a day earlier, a fall of ₹95 per gram.
Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Joyalukkas and Kalyan Jewellers also reported similar reductions, according to Economic Times reports. Prices for 22k jewellery were consistent across major cities, including New Delhi and Mumbai.
The decline continues a softer run. On 13 October, 22k prices had already slipped in key cities, with Tanishq and Malabar Gold adjusting their rates. On 12 October, by contrast, Joyalukkas, Malabar and Kalyan had reported a marginal rise while Tanishq saw a modest drop.
What it means for you
If you are buying jewellery during the festive period, the rate you pay depends on the jeweller you choose and the day you buy. The reports advise buyers to verify prices before purchase.
Differences between jewellers come from purity (24k is the purest, 22k, 20k and 18k contain progressively more other metals), taxes and market demand. You can estimate what a piece would cost using our Gold Jewellery Price Calculator.
For example, at ₹13,635 per gram, a 10-gram 22k chain would cost ₹1,36,350 before any making charges or taxes. That is ₹950 less than at the previous day’s ₹13,730 per gram rate (₹1,37,300).

Background
Jewellers in India publish daily rates by purity, and the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) publishes a reference rate that is also tracked. The brands’ rates can differ slightly from each other. The Economic Times reports attribute price variations to changing purity levels, taxes and market demand, but do not give a specific reason for the 14 October fall.
